NASADEM (reprocessed SRTM model), 2017

NASADEM denotes a new 1 arc-second (30 m) global elevation data set that is currently under development by NASA (Buckley 2015, Crippen et al. 2016). The rationale behind NASADEM is to reprocess SRTM raw measurements with state-of-the-art techniques in order to reduce error sources contained in current SRTM releases. For NASADEM, auxiliary data sets such as ICESat/GLAS laser altimetry, ASTER DEMs, GMTED2010 and national DEMs shall be together with the Delta-Surface algorithm (Grohman et al. 2006) to fill voids in the reprocessed SRTM data set. NASADEM will be made freely available to the public. The model release is planned for 2018.
